You can take alcohol, put it on a rag, then wipe the white board.  This will work well.

I used to be a teacher and if I was going to be out the next day I would write the lesson on the board in permanent marker (because one day I walked into the room on the very day I was to be out and I caught the Substitute erasing what I wrote... I asked him why... he stated... "Oh that was the lesson?" I said "Yes... that was why I put today's date on it and wrote Lessons for the Sub.). Mind you I also wrote the lessons and placed them on my desk.

If you are in a pinch another trick that many don't know... you can write over the permanent marker with a Dry Erase Pen and then immediately erase it and it will remove the marks.
